SRINAGAR: Artisan Rehabilitation Forum (ARF) on Sunday held a day long convention at Gulshan Bagh Hawal to highlight the issues faced by artisans here.
The forum demanded the government should immediately provide rehabilitation package to the affected artisans saying it has become difficult for them to revive their trade on their own.
They also said handicraft Industry in Kashmir should have a separate ministry that will look into the problems faced by this sector.
President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries Sheikh Ashiq who spoke on the occasion assured the artisans the issues pertaining to the artisan community will be taken up with the government.
“We will raise the issue of separate ministry with government and ask them to solve the problems you are facing,” he said. Ashiq added that during a recent meeting with the CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed he assured that problems faced by artisans will be resolved,” said Ashiq.
