Civilian killed, another injured as Indo-Pak armies clash in Poonch

Jammu: A civilian was killed and another injured as India and Pakistan armies exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control in Poonch district.

Pakistani troops began firing mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons from a little before midnight Sunday, targeting forward posts of the Indian army, a defence spokesman said. He said Pakistani troops fired 82mm mortar shells, RPGs and used automatic and small arms, and some shells landed in civilian areas.

”Army carried out effective retaliation resulting in exchanges which were going on when reports last came in from the area,” the spokesman said. (PTI)
