CID men were sent to record my speech: Beigh

Srinagar: Two days after former chief minister Omar Abdullah accused the state government of spying on him, PDP veteran and Member of Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Beigh said CID personnel had been deployed at function to record his speech.
Beigh said that CID personnel were deployed at the SKICC, where he was speaking at the function organised by a local NGO.
“CID men were there so that they could record every word of mine and apprise their bosses what Muzaffar Beigh said in his lecture,” Beigh said.
Without naming them, the senior PDP leader has criticised education minister Naeem Akhtar and finance minister Haseeb Drabu, who are believed to have supplanted him as the most important figures in the party. His role in PDP’s affairs has been diminished after the two, believed to be chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s trusted lieutenants, took the centre stage.
On Sunday, Beigh, who broke down during the speech, targeted Akhtar again by criticising the education policy.
“I want to tell you that the future of our youth is being destroyed and deliberate attempts are being made to make them suffer further,”Beigh said, amid sobs.
Beigh said a “few sycophants in the government are just striving to earn their livelihood, not to serve the people of the state.”
“These sycophants must know that I won’t be cowed down by their tactics. I have spent more than 14 years in jails and I will continue to raise my voice for my people,” he added.
Being said the state government has become the biggest hurdle in the implementation of a comprehensive education policy, and in the absence of a policy, the education system is in chaos.
He also questioned the absence of Director School Education and other officials of the state government in the function.
