JKCA: former office bearer accused of raising loan using JKCA funds

SRINAGAR: A day after the high court ordered that investigation into the multi-crore scam in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association should be handed over to the CBI, a rebel faction of the cricketing body has accused a former office bearer of embezzling Rs 15 crore
Mehboob Iqbal, a bureaucrat-turned politician who is an accused in a land scam, told reporters that to raise the loan, Mirza had pledged an amount of Rs 8.51 crore of JKCA funds in 2007-08. Iqbal said that he hoped the CBI will also investigate into this aspect.
Iqbal Shah, general secretary of the rebel faction, told reporters that complicity of J&K Bank officials into the alleged embezzlement by Mirza can’t be ruled out, as “they were reluctant to share the account details.”
