srinagar: The hunger strike by National Youth Corps (NYC) members entered third day on Thursday as they continue to protest against non-implementation of Cabinet Order regarding their adjustments in various government departments.
During the day, many protesting youth fainted and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Several political leaders including MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori, MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Targami, Ex-MLA Zadibal Peer Afaq Ahmad, Ex-MLA Hazratbal Mohammad Syed Akhoon and National Conference Youth president Irfan Nabi Dar visited the protesting youth and assured them that their issues will be taken up with the government during the upcoming Assembly session.
“In 2014, the then government had taken the cabinet decision, now present government should implement it soon to end the hardships of these educated youth,” said Mohammad Syed Akhoon while addressing the NYC members.
In his address, association’s state president, Asif Ali Bhat , said that , so far, government hasn’t contacted them regarding the implementation of the Cabinet decision.
He said that the members of the NYC will continue the hunger strike until the state government comes forward and addresses their grievances.
He said that on the second day of the hunger strike many members fainted and were later hospitalized.
“On the second day many people fainted and we had to take them to hospital, but officials demanded Rs 300 per patient, that’s injustice,” he said.
