Pakistan “violates” ceasefire in Poonch

Jammu: Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by resorting to small arms firing along the Line of Control in the frontier district of Poonch, prompting the Indian army to retaliate, a senior official said today.

“The Pakistan army targeted Krishna Ghati sector of the LoC in Poonch district late last night. They resorted to small arms firing to which our troops responded appropriately and effectively,” Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said.

He said the ceasefire violation started at around 8 pm and continued till 10:30 pm in the night.

There has been no report of any casualty so far. (PTI)
