SRINAGAR: Regional Office Srinagar of Directorate of Foreign Trade government of India (GOI) on Wednesday held a one-day awareness programme at Anantnag in collaboration with the local District Industries Centre (DIC).
An official handout issued here said the artisans interested in foreign trade, especially in export of handicraft items, participated in the event.
While speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Handicrafts Department, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, elaborated the importance of handicrafts products manufactured in Kashmir and explained the strengths and opportunities related to their trade.
President South Kashmir Industrialists Federation, Zafar Farooq Salati, gave a brief introduction of industrial setup of Anantnag district.
Qamar Aejaz, Foreign Trade Development Officer, Srinagar unit, gave a short prologue of his department and talked about the benefits offered by the department.
Zonal Officer ECGC, Vikas Deshmukh, said ECGC is meant to cover the risks related to foreign trade. Sopalram, Deputy Director Spices Board GoI, briefed the participants about trade of spices in India, highlighting the list of items allowed for export.
Assistant Director Handicrafts, Company Secretary Najamul Hussain Mir, and General Manager DIC Anantnag Mohammad Yusuf Ganie were present in the programme.
