SRINAGAR: Traders Federation Karan Nagar on Tuesday extended support to the Kashmir Economic Alliance’s shutdown call for September 7.
In a release issued here, President of the Federation, Aijaz Shahdhar, said they “fully support” the Kashmir bandh call given by Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA).
“The federation will be taking part in all the seminars that KEA is organising from September 1 to 7,” he said.
The KEA—amalgam of various trade bodies in Kashmir—has called for shutdown on September 7 in protest against the government’s failure to rehabilitate the flood-affected people of the region. The Valley had witnessed worst-in-a-century floods on September 7 last year. The government is observing the day as “revival day”.
Shahdhar said the government failed to keep its promise of rehabilitating the flood-affected populace.
“On top of that the officials of Commercial Tax department are harassing the traders whose stocks got washed away or were damaged in the floods,” the federation’s president said.
