Another PSA against Maqbool Bhat’s brother triggers protests in Tregham

SRINAGAR: People in North Kashmir’s Trehgam area of Kupwara staged protest demonstrations against slapping of the PSA for second time against JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat’s younger brother, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat.
Scores of locals on Monday late evening, took to roads and raised pro-freedom slogans, protesting the government decision of slapping PSA, for the second time, against Zahoor.
Addressing people Mehmooda, Maqbool Bhat’s sister, said Zahoor was scheduled to be presented before the court of Tehsildar Kupwara on August 31 but police booked him under the PSA for the second time. She said it is 8th PSA against Zahoor during the past two years.
Terming it a ‘state sponsored terrorism’, Mehmooda said government is coercing people to protest by the ‘erratic’ measures and threatened more protests if government doesn’t revoke the PSA against Zahoor.
Meanwhile, most of the shops remained closed on Tuesday in the area as the mark of the protest.
