SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on Monday said that it will abstain from work on September 1 against the “murderous attack” on a senior lawyer on August 30.
In a statement, a HCBA spokesman said that one of its senior member, Mohammad Abdullah Pandit, was attacked by some goons in the parking lot near his office chamber. “
“Pandit received severe injuries on his head and had a narrow escape and it was due to the timely intervention of the locals and his juniors present on spot that Pandit was saved from the clutches of the goons,” he added.
The spokesman said that in this regard Police Station Khanyar has registered a case under FIR No. 59/2015 under section 307, 341 RPC and two accused have been arrested in this regard.
He said that the executive committee of the t Bar Association has condemned the “murderous assault on Pandit and have asked the police to probe the matter seriously.
“The Bar Association has also decided to go on one-day strike September 1, to protest the murderous assault the senior colleague,” he added.
