Nine students injured after excursion bus falls into gorge in Budgam

BUDGAM: Nine students were injured on Sunday when an excursion bus, in which they were traveling, skidded off the road and rolled down into a 20-feet deep gorge in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
According to SHO Khansahib, Arshid Ahmad, an excursion bus bearing registration no JK04A-0214 carrying the students from a coaching centre in Parray Pora skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Tangnar (Dodhphatri) in Khansahib area of the district.
He said that police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. “ Nine injured students were rushed to district hospital, Budgam from where four were referred to Srinagar for further treatment,” he added. The bus was returning from Doodpathri when the driver lost control over the vehicle, he added.
On August 22, two teachers identified died while as eight others were injured after an excursion bus turned turtle at the same spot at Tangnar.
