Pampore: Sanitation workers of Municipal Committee Pampore (MCP) held a protest at Municipal Committee Park Drangbal in Pampore.
The employees were up in arms against the MCP administration for failing to provide vehicles required for transportation of garbage in the town.
The aggrieved workers said the department did not provide transportation facilities for garbage although they had several times appealed to their higher authorities over the issue.
They said they had to face humiliation at the hands of public for dumping garbage on public places and even they were beaten up by the people for several times in the past.
President Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum Jammu and Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori said the employees were compelled to protest as the authorities have not paid any heed to their pleas.
“We know that the transport facility has been damaged in the September floods and it has been sent to workshop three months ago but why such a delay is being done to make the vehicles functional again,” Pampoori said.
However, executive officer Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar when contacted refused to comment over the issue.
