Teacher arrested for ‘raping’ class 8th student in Shopian

Shopian: Police on Thursday arrested a government teacher for allegedly raping a class 8th girl student at DK Pora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The accused has been identified as Maqbool Ganaie , working in Government Girls higher Secondary School DK Pora.
Police said that on August 24, victim’s parents filed a complaint of rape in Police Station Imam Sahib demanding action against the accused.
“We registered the complaint and filed an FIR bearing number 179/2015 under section 376 against the accused,” said Station House Officer (SHO) Jazib Mohammad Bhat.
He added that the accused was absconding from the last three days and was arrested on Wednesday evening from D K Pora area of the district.
In the complaint, victim’s parents have stated that on July 16, the girl was enticed by the accused that he would provide her some books and took her to his old abandoned house in the village. They added that the teacher assaulted their daughter sexually there and even warned her not to reveal the incident to anyone.
The girl’s father said that his daughter complained pain in her abdomen after which she was taken for the treatment during which medicos prescribed her the urine test.
“It was shocking to see the report and we scolded our daughter, insisting her to reveal identity of the person,” victim’s father said, adding that the girl broke down and narrated the whole episode after which a case has been filed before the police.
