Couple injured in leopard attack in Uri

BARAMULLA: A couple was attacked and injured by a leopard in Uri area of Baramulla district on Tuesday.
Locals said that Mohammad Sharief Khan, 52, and his wife Shariefa Jan,40, residents of Haka-Pathri Pehlipora here in Uri were injured when a wild leopard attacked their sheep in a forest near their home and subsequently attacked the duo.
They said that people shifted the injured to District Hospital Baramulla for treatment where their condition is said to be critical.
Wildlife warden, north Kashmir, Mohammad Sadiq said that the two were injured when they tried to save their cattle from the leopard.
He said a team of officials from the department has been sent to the area to trap the beast.
