SRINAGAR: The J&K Bank on Monday opened a business unit at Kuligam, Lolab in north Kashmir’s district Kupwara.
State Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Abdul Haq Khan, inaugurated the business unit in presence of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, bank’s Zonal Head Kashmir (North), Mohammad Younis, and its Cluster Head Kupwara, Mohammad Shafi Bhat, the bank said in a release issued here. Speaking on the occasion, Khan said, “J&K Bank is a premier financial institution of the state with an outstanding record of dedicated service for more than seven decades towards economic upliftment of the people of the state. We are thankful to the bank for having acceded to request of the people of this area.” He urged upon the people of Kuligam and its adjoining areas to bank only with J&K Bank.
“We expect the bank to provide all and latest banking services and facilities to the people of the area thereby helping its economy grow and develop,” the release quoted him as saying.
The Zonal Head said the bank would work towards the goal of “extending hi-tech banking facility to people at their doorsteps and ensure their economic development and upliftment”. He requested the people to extend full support to the bank in achieving its mission of expanding its footprints in the unbanked areas. It is the bank’s 102nd business unit in the zone and 825th in the state, the release said.
