IAF fighter plane crashes in Budgam

Srinagar: An aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter aircraft crashed this morning in central-Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The fighter aircraft MIG-21 of 51 Squadron crashed in the paddy fields in Soibug, Budgam around 11 am today, a senior defense ministry official said. The aircraft was completely damaged in the crash, while the pilot and the co-pilot escaped miraculously. The plane crashed minutes it took off the Srinagar airfield.

Meanwhile, IAF has initiated an enquiry to ascertain the cause of crash, the official added.
