Srinagar: Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) President and senior resistance leader Shabir Ahmad Shah has been arrested by the Delhi police and taken to undisclosed location on his arrival in the Indian capital this afternoon.
Shah, who left for New Delhi in Indigo flight 651 this morning to meet Pakistan’s National Security Advisor, Sartaj Aziz, who is scheduled to have talks with his Indian counterpart on Sunday, was arrested shortly after he arrived in the Indian capital, Indian news channels reported.
He has been taken to undisclosed location by the Delhi police.
Shah, who left for New Delhi from his Rawalpora house around 9:25 today, had said that he will not back out and will visit the Pakistan High Commission, where he and other resistance leaders have been invited to have talks with Pakistan NSA.
The DFP president had also lashed at the Indian media for creating hue and cry over the meeting of pro-freedom camp with the Pakistan NSA.
“This is not the first time we are going to meet Pakistan leaders. We have meeting them from decades. Why hue and cry this time,” he said.
He had said that the talks between the two NSAs were must to arrive at a solution in the backdrop of rising tension along the borders.
“The differences between the two countries can only be removed through talks. Once they sit together, they can find solution to the complaints of ceasefire violation along the borders,” he had added.
