DAK shocked over posting of Saleem-ur-Rehman as Project Director

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today expressed shock over posting of Dr Saleem- ur- Rehman, as Project Director of State AIDS Control Society, despite “corruption charges”.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Reader, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said that government’s tall claims of weeding out corruption have fallen flat by calling back tainted health official.

“The present dispensation’s promise of sacking corrupt officials and replacing them by honest ones has turned to be hoax by recalling this corrupt health official,” Dr Nisar said.

He said that Dr Rehman was involved in Drug Kits scam and a case is registered in police station vigilance organization Kashmir against him. He said that the former Director health was also involved in supply of spurious drugs to government hospitals because of which precious human lives were lost.

“He had turned health sector into an industry of corruption, favoritism and nepotism. He should have been in jail but instead has been rewarded for his misdeeds which give us to understand that corruption is promoted at highest level,” he added.

The DAK president alleged that had the government been serious in reviving premier health institutions of GMC and SKIMS, Principal and the Director of the two premier institutes would have been removed by now.

“Despite huge influx of public money into these institutions they are in complete shambles because of incompetence and corrupt practices of these health officials. These tainted officials are a blot to the medical profession and have brought disgrace and disrepute to the whole medical fraternity,” Dr Nisar said.
