SRINAGAR: The government Wednesday said the industrial units at Rajbagh here will be shifted to Pampore.
Making the announcement during his visit to the Joinery Mills at Pampore, the Minister of State for Industries & Commerce, Muhammad Ashraf Mir, asked the concerned authorities “to process the issue for ensuring early shifting of the identified units”.
Meanwhile, he said the government has spent Rs 10 crore on reconstructing the Joinery Mills on modern lines.
“As a part of the policy to revive all sick industrial units in the state, the Joinery Mills Pampore has been reconstructed on modern lines to ensure availability of latest equipment and machinery. Rs 10.50 crore have been expended for making the unit functional,” the MoS said.
The government, he said, has already issued instructions to all the departments for making purchases from these units.
“Need is to get these orders implemented effectively for overall benefit of these units. The matter will be brought into the notice of all the ministers,” he said, and asked Managing Director of SICOP to take “necessary measures” and again circulate the government orders issued earlier.
The MoS said that establishing joinery units can be one of the best employment options for the unemployed youth.
“On one hand, it can give them employment while on the other hand it can improve their economic status,” he said.
