Srinagar: Hundreds of residents of Malla Bagh here have blocked roads and are staging protests to demand better road connectivity, delinking of area from ZEO Gulab Bagh, besides the removal of a CRPF camp and utilization of the same for a Children’s hospital.

Hundreds of men, women and children assembled at the Malla Bagh chowk this morning and staged anti-government demonstrations, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Chanting slogans, the protesters blocked Soura-Hazratbal road alleging that the area has been facing neglect from the successive governments.

“We demanded that Malbagh be treated as a single entity in revenue, police and municipal records. We also deserve better road connectivity because the narrow roads in the area are leading to frequent accidents,” the protesters said.

The protesters also demanded the area be delinked from ZEO Gulab Bagh as it falls within Srinagar.

“We also want government to remove one of the CRPF camps and utilize it for building a Children’s hospital,” the protesters said.
