SRINAGAR: The Coalition Coordination Committee (CC) of the PDP and BJP met under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh here today. This was only the second meeting of the CC—constituted in March, ostensibly to ensure implementation of the Agenda for Alliance and smooth functioning of the coalition government—after the ‘durbar move.
MPs Mehbooba Mufti, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Thupstan Chewang besides Ministers Choudhary Lal Singh, Abdul Rehman Veeri and Naeem Akhtar attended the meeting. Sources that the meeting, which was held at Hari Niwas Palace, started at 6pm and continued for two hours.
News agency KNS, quoting sources said that appointments to the State Accountability Commission (SAC), Backward Classes Commission (BCC) and filling up of posts of vice-chairpersons of Boards/Corporations and in other departments figured in the meeting. Other issues, including the ongoing development works in the state as well as overall security situation in the aftermath of recent militant attacks were also discussed, KNS reported. They added the CC also reviewed the performance of ministers, works done in past months, immediate priorities, security arrangements and various other issues. Progress on issues taken up in the previous CC meeting was also reviewed in the meeting, KNS added.
Sources said some other issues, part of the ‘Agenda of Alliance’ were also taken up by the CC for implementation. “The meeting went smoothly (sic),” a PDP leader who was part of the meeting told agencies.
