Militants attack policemen guarding Sopore shrine, cop injured

Baramulla: Suspected militants have attacked police in Sopore town of this north Kashmir district leaving a policeman injured.

Suspected militants, believed to be two in numbers, opened random fire upon policemen guarding a shrine in Tujjar Shareef area of Sopore this afternoon, reports said. A policeman identified as Fayaz Ahmad of Wadura, Sopore was injured in the attack. He has been removed to the hospital for treatment.

Reports said that the area has been placed under cordon as the reinforcements of Special Operations Group (SOG) of police, army and CRPF have arrived on the spot. More details emerging.
