SRINAGAR: About 300 students of Government Boys High School Natipora took part on Monday in a cross country run sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
In an official handout issued here, the bank said the race was flagged off by the Principal of the School, Fatima Laherwal.
After the race concluded, students of the school presented cultural programmes and spoke on various topics in a function held in the school premises, it said.
In-charge of Corporate Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility departments of the J&K Bank, Sajjad Bazaz, who was chief guest on the occasion, distributed prizes among the students, the release said.
“Extracurricular activities need to be fully embedded in the overall child development programmes right from the school level,” Bazaz said on the occasion.
Principal Government Higher Secondary School Channapora, Mehmooda, also distributed prizes among the students, it added.
Fatima Laherwal informed the audience about the activities, particular extracurricular, of the school.
“We have around 300 students in the school. Despite lack of proper infrastructure, we have been trying our level best to inculcate sportsman’s spirit and a sense of discipline among the students. Our students have won various championships in different sports,” she said.
