Civilian injured in Sopore attack dies, toll reached two

Baramulla: A civilian, who was injured in an attack by suspected militants on policemen in Sopore town of this north Kashmir district this afternoon, has succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The civilian identified as Abdur Rahim Lone, son of Jamal ud-Din Lone succumbed to his injuries shortly after he was taken to the sub-district hospital, Sopore for treatment, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, north Kashmir Gareeb Daas told Kashmir Reader. With his death, the toll in the surprise attack on policemen manning a shrine in Tujjar Shareef area of Sopore has reached two.

Earlier, Fayaz Ahmad of IRP 13 Battalion died of the serious injuries in the attack, believed to have been carried out by militants.

Meanwhile, Special Operations Group (SOG) of police, army and CRPF are conducting searches in Tujjar Shareef and its neighborhood villages to nab the assailants.
