SRINAGAR: The J&K high court has directed government to consider, within four weeks, a representation by inhabitants of Wahigund Tangmarg for establishing a Health Sub-Centre at their village.
Hearing a petition filed by the villagers in representative capacity, a single bench of Justice Bansi Lal Bhat also issued notice returnable in four weeks Commissioner Secretary Health, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla besides CMO Baramulla and BMO Tangmarg.
In their petition, the villagers have stated that a Health Sub Centre was sanctioned for village Wahigund Tangmarg in terms of government order (No.584-HME of 2014) on 17 October last year. However, they said, the government is establishing the Health Sub Centre at village Wahigund Payeen “which is located at the fag end of the village.”
They also contended that the location proposed by the government shall not be convenient to the local inhabitants and shall not be accessible at all times.
“(Deputy commissioner Baramulla) to accord consideration to the representation and take decision in respect of the location of Health Sub Centre Wahigund, keeping in view the convenience of people and accessibility of the local residents to the venue of the Health Sub Centre,” the court said, directing him to take the decision within four weeks.
“Till the decision is taken, status quo as on date shall be maintained in respect of the location of Health Sub Centre Wahigund,’ the court added. The villagers have filed the petition through advocate Pervez Ahmad Lone.
