SRINAGAR: Ten people were killed in a road accident at Sadhna Top in north Kashmir’s’ Kupwara district on Tuesday evening, a senior police official said.
He said that a passenger vehicle (Sumo) bearing registration number JK013-7383 was on way to Karnah from Srinagar, on reaching Stage-II at Sadhna Top, the vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge.
In the mishap, ten persons including four of a family died, he said. He said that the persons killed in the accident included three women and a child.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed expressed grief over the death of the deceased persons.
Mufti conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families in their hour of grief and prayed for peace to the departed souls, an official spokesman said in a statement.
Member Parliament and president of Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, also expressed grief over the incident and expressed solidarity with the families of victims.
