Pulwama protester injured in BSF firing dies, protests intensify

Pulwama: A civilian, who was injured by government forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during anti-India demonstrations, succumbed to his injuries SMHS hospital this evening here.

Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat of Padgampora, was injured when BSF men fired at him during an anti-India protest triggered by the killing of two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants earlier in the day in Ratnipora village, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Bilal who have received multiple gunshots succumbed to his injuries while being operated upon by a team of doctors at SMHS, Srinagar, they said.

When the news of Bilal’s killing reached his native village, hundreds of men, women and children took to streets and staged an anti-India demonstration People were shouting “We want freedom” and “farewell O’martyrs” to mourn Bilal’s killing.

“The situation is tense in the area, as the protests have spread to other villages,” witnesses said.
