KTMF asks Shopian traders to defer strike, assures support

Shopian: Kashmir Trader and Manufactures Federation President Mohammad Yasin Khan asked its counterparts in Shopian traders to defer their proposed agitation against the diversion of traffic on Mughal Road.
He said during the peak season of business in the area the strike would be detrimental for the local business community adding that KTMF would fully support any such plan in future.
Khan who held deliberations with traders led by their district president Ghulam Nabi Turray following which they called on District Commissioner GM Dar.
“The DC was informed that the “mini Secretariat” should not be relocated as it would affect business activities. Besides a demand was put forth that Mughal Road Development Authority should remain attached with District Shopian, to which the DC agreed,” a KTMF handout said.
The delegation led by Khan said the infrastructure at district hospital needs to be improved forthwith. The demand for immediate completion of Reshi Nagar bridge and installation of streetlights was also discussed. The KTMF said it was hopeful that the district administration would meet the demands without any delay.
Meanwhile the traders also asked the government to put check on timber smuggling in the area and sought conservation of forests in the district.
