SRINAGAR: Member of Legislative Assembly from Langate constituency, Engineer Abdul Rashid would be holding a sit-in on Monday to press for the demand of establishing an Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) and an Indian Institute of Management(IIM) in Kashmir.
In a statement, the Awami Ittihaad Party president said that the peaceful sit-in would be held in front of the civil secretariat in Srinagar.
“Engineer Rashid and colleagues will participate in the sit-in to press for the demand of establishing IIT and IIM etc in Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
The MLA said that the protest was “to fight for the genuine rights of Kashmir and ensure setting up of IIT, IIM, IIMC etc in Kashmir.”
“Kashmir has constantly been discriminated in terms of developmental paradigms. We appeal all religious, socio-political organisations of Kashmir to get united and in unison press New Delhi to fulfill genuine demands of people of Kashmir,” the spokesman quoted Er Rashid as saying.
