Shutdown continues in Pulwama against Talib’s killing

Anantnag: A complete shutdown is being observed for the second running day today in parts of Pulwama district against the killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander by the government forces on Thursday.

All shops, business establishments, educational institutions and private offices are closed in Main Town Pulwama, Kakpora, Newa, Samboora and other parts of the district to mourn the killing of Talib Ahmad Shah, in an alleged gunfight with the government forces on Thursday in Astan Mohalla locality of Kakpora on Thursday, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Witnesses said that CRPF troopers and police have been deployed in strength in the volatile areas to scuttle any anti-India protests.

“Amid a shutdown, scores of people from different villages are visiting the resident of the slain militant to express solidarity with the bereaved family,” witnesses said.
