SRINAGAR: The state government decided on Thursday to implement the common biometric attendance system (BAS), wherein serving and retired employees would be identified by their fingerprints, which will be authenticated by a central system where the employees will be already registered.
In a circular, commissioner secretary Navin K Choudhary said that besides attendance, fund transfer and benefits of welfare schemes would be routed through this system.
Once implemented, the circular reads, an employee would be digitally identified and is not required to be physically present before prescribed authorities.
“Therefore all government employees, contractual workers, daily wagers, casual labourers are directed to enroll themselves by September 15, 2015 and get their latest aadhaar number,” said the circular.
The circular further said that for facilitation of aadhaar enrollments, the permanent enrollment centres (PEC) have been established throughout the state at grassroots level. The list of PECs is available on http:lljkit.nic.in.
