Militants ambush BSF convoy at Udhampur, trooper killed, 4 injured

Jammu: A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper has been killed while four others injured in a fierce encounter in Udhampur district of Jammu region.

A group of three to four heavily armed militants ambushed a BSF convoy near Nasru Nallah along the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the Udhampur district this morning causing injuries to at least five troopers, officials told Kashmir Reader. One of the troopers, whose identity is not yet known, succumbed to his injuries later.

Others injured in the audacious militant attack have been removed to the hospital. The convoy, officials said was on way to Srinagar from Jammu when militants opened random fire at it.

Shortly after the attack, contingents of BSF, police and army reached the spot and engaged the militants in a gunfight. The exchange of fire was going on when the last reports came in.

The traffic has also been suspended on the highway in wake of the encounter
