Justice eludes Sailan, Mohrabachi victims: Malik

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front on Tuesday demanded punishment to the armed forces allegedly involved in the killing of scores of person on August 4 in Sailan-Poonch and Mohrabachi –Surankot in 1998 and 1999 respectively.
On the intervening night of August 3/4, 1998, 19 people, including 11 children aged between 4 to 15 years, and five women, one in advanced stage of pregnancy, were shot dead in their home in Sailan town of Poonch district allegedly by the soldiers belonging to army’s 9 Paratroopers and four Special Police Officers (SPOs). 14 people were killed in Mohrabachi-Surankote in 1999.
“Innocent people were massacred by Indian army and SOG at these places. All the killers are roaming free and justify that Indian democracy in Kashmir just means to protect killers in uniform,”Malik said in a statement.
Malik said that more than a decade has passed since the two massacres but no one has been arrested or booked so far.
He alleged that the Indian agencies and forces know that they won’t be punished for any their acts perpetrated against the Muslims in JK.
“Indian rulers and their Kashmiri helpers, one day, will have to answer for these massacres and innocent killings,” he added.
