Another trooper, militant killed in Udhampur gunfight

Jammu : Another Border Security Force (BSF) trooper and a militant have died in Udhampur district of Jammu region, taking the toll in the ongoing encounter between militants and the government forces to three.

Officials told Kashmir Reader that one of the four troopers injured in the ambush by militants succumbed to injuries at the hospital taking the toll of troopers dead in the encounter to two. He said three others were being treated at the hospital for bullet injuries.

An unknown militant has also died in the encounter that prompted authorities to suspend traffic on the strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway.

The encounter broke out early this morning when a group of three to four heavily armed militants ambushed a BSF convoy near Nasru Nallah along the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the Udhampur district killing a trooper and injuring four others.

Additional reinforcements of BSF, police and army have been rushed to the area. The exchange of fire was going on when the last reports came in.
