SKIMS suspends technician for allegedly molesting patient

SRINAGAR: Superintendent of SK Institute of Medical Sciences (Bemina) on Monday suspended Operation Theatre technician after he was alleged of molesting a female patient in the theatre premises.
According to a SKIMS statement, the employee has been suspended and an inquiry has been initiated into the incident by the Director.
“A female patient under MRD No. 308234 and IPD. NO. 008647 was admitted in the department of ENT and was operated for Tonsillectomy. However, after coming out of the theatre the patient alleged that the OT technician touched her inappropriately,” he said.
The SKIMS authorities have also blamed police of not taking action against protestors for damaging the SKIMS property.
“The SKIMS Medical College authorities also brought the matter into the notice of SSP Srinagar & IGP Kashmir. However, delayed action by concerned Divisional Officer, Police Post, Bemina, who was immediately informed about the situation for taking appropriate action against mob who damaged equipment’s in operation theatre including USG Machines, monitors & equipment’s in orthopedic ward and creating unnecessary fear among hospital,” he added.
He said that in addition to this, window glasses were broken in O.T and corridor and the protestors also “abused officials and dragged the officers from their rooms.”
“The inaction by the concerned divisional officer further deteriorated the situation and uncontrolled mob went berserk in the hospital harassed hospital staff and disrupted hospital functioning. As a result the employees went on strike against harassment & demand security.”
