SRINAGAR: SK University of Agricultural Sciences Welfare Forum on Saturday termed the shifting of some divisions to Wadura campus as “disastrous decision that would create an academic chaos” at the varsity.
In a statement, a spokesman of the forum said that it was resolved constituting a forum for addressing the genuine problems faced by scientists and employees because of the shifting of faculty of agriculture’s 11 divisions including Agronomy and Plant Genetics and Breeding to North Kashmir’s Wadura in Sopore.
“The en-masse displacement of scientists, teachers from the two divisions will result in an academic chaos and shall prove disastrous for the post-graduate students and research scholars,” he said.
“The scientists and employees of the two divisions overwhelmingly participated in the meeting and appealed to Chancellor , Pro Chancellor, Ministers for Agriculture and Horticulture , Members of the Board of Management and University Council to seriously look into the matter and quash all those orders which are against the interests of SKUAST-K,” it said.
During the meeting, they also appealed the search for Vice Chancellor for the SKUAST-K should be expedited for the smooth functioning of the university.
“Scientists, teachers employees have full faith in search committee constituted by the government and hope that preferably a local candidate having remarkable contribution in research, teaching and extension will make it to the coveted office,” the statement said.
