Srinagar: Javaid Ahmad Mir, chairman of his faction of JKLF and senior Hurriyat (M) leader, on Friday was injured while the police was trying to detain him, a party spokesman.
The spokesman, in a statement, said that Mir received injury to his left thumb when police tried to detain him along with his party activists. Mir was protesting against the continuous detention of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in several jails across India.
The spokesman said that before being shifted to the hospital, Mir was lodged in the Kothi Bagh police station wherefrom he was shifted to Police Hospital at Batamaloo.
“Later on, he was shifted to Bone & Joints hospital, Barzulla and underwent a surgery,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman blamed police of delaying the treatment to Mir at Kothi Bagh. ” Mir was bleeding profusely but the police official at Kothi Bagh PS were not shifting him to the hospital for treatment. After repeated pleas, police, later on shifted Mir to the hospital,” he added.
The spokesman has condemned the police action against Mir.
