Geelani warns of agitation against alleged harassment of Jammu Muslims

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Friday said that Muslims of Kashmir would march en-masse towards Jammu if the communal forces there would not stop harassing the Muslim population.
In a statement, Geelani said that since the inception of the PDP-BJP government, the communal and fascist forces in Jammu have started a well planned movement against the Muslim population of the region and they are continuously hatching conspiracies to hurt and harm the Muslims in every possible way.
“The newly elected MLAs of BJP are leading these anti-Muslim movements in these areas and due to their backing the communal agents in administration, police and even in judiciary have got active and their only goal is how to harass and harm the Muslims,” Geelani said.
Geelani alleged that while Muslims were evacuated in the name of vacating the forest land, plans were being made to occupy and capture their open lands with the use of power and “construct temples thereon.”
“If any Muslim officer is holding any key post in the Jammu region, he is immediately being transferred and a RSS mentality person is appointed in his place,” Geelani said.
Hurriyat(G) chairman alleged that many ancient Masjids of Muslims were on the target of the communal forces and they were planning to demolish them on various pretexts.
Geelani criticized chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for “maintaining criminal silence over the miseries of the Jammu Muslims” and said that he has practically handed over the affairs of this region to his alliance partner.
“He is concerned only with his chair and he had entered into a secret agreement of “Idhar Hum aur Udhar Tum” (It is mine and that is yours) with the BJP,” he said.
The pro-freedom leader however said that the Jammu Muslims won’t be left at the mercy of the communal forces and nobody would be allowed to repeat the history of 1947.
“By observing Friday as solidarity day for the Jammu Muslims, we want to give a clear message that if the process of harassing the Muslim population is not immediately stopped, the law and order situation of the entire state will get badly affected and that fire will be impossible to control for everybody,” he said.
“We will come on the roads and will start an agitation and if need arises the Muslims of the Valley will en-masse move towards the Jammu region and will protect our brethren from the heat of the communal forces,” he added.
