Srinagar: The Agriculture Production department on Wednesday asked the state crime branch to investigate the complaints about “fake and false appointment orders and communications”.
The department also cautioned people against “falling prey” to “designs of unscrupulous elements”.
“It has been felt necessary to issue an advisory to the public to be careful and not to fall prey to the designs of such unscrupulous elements and also report the matter, if any in their knowledge, to the government (Agriculture Production Department) or the nearest police station so that action, as warranted under law, is taken against such elements,” a statement issued here by the department said.
It said the government has imposed ban on engagement of casual laborers or daily-rated workers.
“No officer is authorised to make such engagement and any person in possession of such orders or communications should immediately report the matter to the Commissioner/Secretary Agriculture Production Department for further necessary action,” it said.
The department said the “so-called daily-rated workers” and “self-styled leaders” remain invariably present in the civil secretariat and are also seen in various sections of the department.
These “unscrupulous elements”, it said, have reportedly been indulging in collection of money from the “so-called daily-rated workers on the pretext of getting them regularized”.
“The presence of these elements in the Secretariat affects the working in the secretariat,” it said, directing the heads of departments to keep a “strict vigil” on the movement of “such elements”.
They have been asked to report the matter to police immediately for action under law.
