36,000 accounts opened under security scheme in Poonch

SRINAGAR: Over 36,000 accounts have been opened by different banks under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) in Poonch district of Jammu’s division.
Besides, according to an official handout issued here, 11,510 persons have been enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and 6,511 under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojna (PMJJY) in the district.
“Atal Pension Yojana (APY)… is also getting a good response from the target group in the district,” it said.
It said the information was revealed in the ‘Town Hall Meetings’ organised by the Lead Bank Department at Mendhar, Mandi, Surankote, Draba, Chandank for awareness and publicity of the Social Security Schemes.
Prominent features of these schemes were highlighted in these meetings by representatives of various government departments, banks, LIC of India, and NGOs, it said.
The District Development Commissioner Poonch, Nisar Ahmed Wani, instructed the Lead Bank Department to organise such camps in the rural areas of the hilly district.
