Baramulla: Uri Star beat Salamabad Cricket Club by six wicket in the final match of Uri Premier League played at Uri cricket ground on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 114,Uri Star got worst start as both their openers were back in the hut and at one stage they were tottering with just 16 runs on the board losing four wickets.
But middle order batsmen Aaqib and Imran studied the innings and played cautiously adding match winning 101 run partnership for fourth wicket. For their match winning performance Man of the Match award was jointly shared by them, while their team mate Mubashir Malik walked away with Man of the series award.
Earlier, bating first Salamabad Cricket Club put a formidable total of 114 on the board in their allotted 20 overs.
Large number of people including officers of civil government and army were present on the occasion. The tournament was organised by the department of youth services and supports and army’s Kala Rahar Brigade in which 36 teams from nearby area participated.
