In past 1 year, govt took action against ​3606 chemists for selling sub standard medicines ​

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir ​,​ Asgar Samoon on Monday was informed that from April 2014 to March 2015 ​R​s 11.36 lakh was recovered as fine from drug defaulters while legal action was taken against 3606 chemists who sold sub standard medicines.
In an official meeting with drug and food and safety department ​the Div Com ​was told that sub standard medicine worth Rs 2.23 lakh was seized from chemists.
Reviewing the functioning of the Drug and Food Safety Department, the DC directed the drug and food safety departments to conduct the inspection of the dealers of food product and chemists in the valley so that good quality of food products and medicine would be provided to the general public. He also directed the authorities to intensify market checking.
