Scare: mobile outlets shut in north Kashmir

Baramulla: Soon after a series of attacks on mobile phone outlets in Srinagar city, a large number of such outlets and recharge counters downed shutters in Baramulla town, Rafiabad, Sangrama and Pattan areas of the district and some localities of Handwara in Kupwara district on Friday.
Zahoor Ahmad, who owns a recharge counter in Baramulla town, said, “My family members and relatives and friends called me and informed me about the attacks in Srinagar. I closed my shop immediately.”
Kashmir Reader also learnt that the landlords who have rented land for mobile towers displayed signboards outside their houses reading “I have stopped this mobile tower” in Sopore, Pattan and some other areas.
Many other landlords have asked the companies concerned to remove mobile towers from their lands.
Deputy inspector general of police (north Kashmir range) Gareeb Das said the police have heightened vigil in sensitive areas after Srinagar attacks.
“The police have been asked to increase patrolling in areas housing mobile towers, showrooms and recharge counters and I hope people will cooperate with us and inform us about any suspicious movement in any area,” he said.
