Khidmat Centres to collect power bills: govt

SRINAGAR: The government on Friday said that Khidmat centres would be designated as nodal points for collection In order to facilitate easy payment of electricity bills.
The facility would be started in Baramulla and Kathua districts on pilot basis.
According to an official spokesman, this was decided at a meeting chaired by deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh.
“It was decided in the meeting that the collection of electricity bills of the power development department would be done at the Khidmat centers set up by J&K Bank in order to ensure early and hassle free collection, besides ensuring active participation of these centers in the governance,” the spokesman said.
