Srinagar: Over a dozen Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) activists were detained by the police at the City Centre here during a demonstration against the alleged persecution of  Muslims in the Jammu region by the fanatic Hindu groups.

Scores of JKLF activists converged at Abi Guzar here around 1:30 pm today and took out a peaceful rally against the alleged persecution of Jammu Muslims by the extremist Hindu groups like RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Chanting slogans “Stop state sponsored terrorism,” “Jammu Muslims we are with you,” the protesters tried to march towards the historic Ganta Ghar.

“However, the cops intercepted and prevented them from taking the rally further. This led to heated argument between the two sides. Later, cops detained over a dozen JKLF activists and whisked them to the nearby police station,” witnesses said.
