Er Rashid held with supporters at Lal Chowk

Srinagar: Independent legislator from north Kashmir’s Langate constituency Er Abdur Rashid Sheikhwas detained by police along with his supporters during a protest against the alleged harassment of the Jammu Muslims.

Er Rashid, president of Awami Itihaad Party flanked by dozens of his supporters tried to take out a rally from Press Colony, Srinagar to denounce the alleged harassment of Jammu Muslims by the fanatic Hindu groups like VHP, Bajrang Dal an RSS, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Chanting slogans against the extremist Hindu outfits, Rashid alleged that the government has failed to end the harassment of the Muslims in various districts of Jammu region.

When Rashid tried to march towards Lal Chowk, police bundled him and his supporters in a van and took them to the nearby Kothi Bagh police station.
