Rajouri observes shutdown over burning of religious flags

Rajouri: A complete shutdown is being observed in Rajouri district here against the alleged burning of a flag inscribed with Kalima by activists of Vishva Hindu Parishad.

All shops and offices in Rajouri town and other major parts of the district remained closed today against the flag burning by the fanatic Hindu groups, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Despite rains, scores of people assembled at various major towns of the district and staged protests against the VHP and RSS activists. The protesters shouting pro-Islam and anti-VHP, RSS slogans also burnt tyres on the roads to express their anger.

“We will not tolerate the attack on our religion. We will intensify protests if the government doesn’t act and take the guilty to task,” the protesters said.
