V-Mart distributes clothes among destitute at Dardpora

SRINAGAR: V-Mart Retail Ltd Thursday distributed clothes to the residents of Dardpora village in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
“V-Mart distributed over 600 pairs of clothes including kurta pajama, pullovers, ladies suits, sarees, and cardigans for men and women. By distributing new clothes to the residents of this village, V-Mart wishes to bring a smile onto their faces and also ignite hope about their better future,” the company, which is north India’s growing value retail chain and the only retail chain to have a store in Kashmir Valley, said in a release.
Dardpora, it said, is also known as “village of widows” because of being “home to more than 300 widows and over 200 orphans, impacted by militancy in the state”. Most residents of the village make daily struggle for livelihood, it said.
“We simply want to bring a smile on the face of these unfortunate residents and we want to tell them that at V-Mart, we do care about most impacted people of society too,” said Lalit Agarwal, CMD of V-Mart Retail Ltd, in the statement.
“It is part of our CSR work, but this is certainly not a publicity stunt for us. As a person who has risen from a humble background, my philosophy has always been to rise above narrow business goals and make larger impact to the society,” he said.
