Stray dogs pester women, children of Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: The residents of Ganderbal have expressed concern over the increasing number of stray dogs in the district.
According to the locals, herds of dogs can be seen on the prowl at various areas of the district including Beehama, Duderhama , Safapora, Lar, Manigam, Kangan, Ganniwan and Gund.
The locals told Kashmir Reader that the dogs pose constant threat to the people during morning and evening hours.
“The movement of people especially children, elderly and women have become difficult during the morning and evening hours due to the presence of large number of dogs in the area,” said a resident.
“There has been drastic increase in the number of dogs in the district,” he rued. Shamima, a homemaker, said that she has to accompany her child to school owing to the threat posed by the dogs. “The problem is very serious but authorities are turning a deaf ear to the menace,” she said.
The residents appealed the concerned authorities to take some steps for the convenience of the people.
