Srinagar: The pro-freedom leadership has stated that if the “atrocities” committed by government forces are not stopped, they would ask people to come out on the streets and protest, said a joint resolution adopted by the pro-freedom leadership and members of civil society.
On the invitation of Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq , Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik jointly broke their fast, during which the resolution was adopted and supported by other pro-freedom groups and civil society members.
“This historical congregation announces that if murders, booking of innocents under false cases, oppression and harassment of Muslims, especially in Jammu is not stopped, the pro-freedom leadership will appeal to people to come on the roads and start a joint movement against the Mufti-RSS government sponsored terrorism,” the resolution states.
This resolution resolved that Kashmiris would collectively fight and expose the plans of the BJP, VHP, RSS and Congress. “Jammu’s Muslims would not be left to the mercy of such forces, and neither will Kashmiris allow the repeat of the dark history of 1947,” it stated.
The resolution said that ever since the BJP-PDP regime took over, the graph of human rights violations had shown a dramatic rise. “The spree of mysterious killings has increased while innocents are being booked under false cases. The right wing parties are using government machinery to promote their agenda,” it said.
The resolution also rejected division of Muslims into sects, saying such thinking was tearing apart the community’s unity. “Such polluted thinking will never be allowed to take root in Kashmir and all such plots will meet collective resistance.” It also stated that conspiracies were being hatched to promote extremism and intolerance.
